Carolina Shag Dancing!
The Roanoke Valley Shag Club was est. in 1989 to promote Carolina Beach Music & Dance known as SHAG Dancing & to provide members opportunities to associate with other individuals who enjoy the same! The RVSC is affiliated with the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs http://www.shagdance.com & we support local & national charities through fund raising activities!

RVSC 2012 Party Schedule.pdf                                                         Shag Dancing is a form of Swing evolved from the Jitterbug & Jump Blues of the Big Band Jazz era & originated along the strands between Myrtle Beach, SC & Wilmington, NC, during the '40's. It 's associated with Carolina Beach Music, a genre of R&B songs!
"SHAG" is recognized in Nat'l & International dance competitions held across the USA!
"Shag is a warm night with a cold beer & a hot date!"

The Holiday Band will be at Billy's Barn on August 4th & August 11th is the Beckley Hanger Party ... Our board has moved our monthly party to August 18th with DJ Bobby Snyder (DJ Roy Childress will play for our dance on September 7th!) Marshall & Walter will chair the dance on August 18th ... please note these changes for the Roanoke Valley Shag Club Party Events for 2012!

Over $9000 raised for The Community Christmas Store at our  Silent Auction this Saturday night March 24th at The American Legion ... Thanks Margaret, Melanie, Dave, Scott, Chee Chee & all our other members who worked so hard to make this possible!!
